http://www.sitmeanssit.com Here is a video of my friend, frisbee dog legend Lou Mack, messing around and tossing a few frisbees for my dog ‘Nash’. It is very common for me to let other people work with and play with my dogs, and I know some of you have varying opinions on that. Leave your comments and opinions on the matter. You can find the incredible bio and history of Lou Mack at: http://www.cooldogprod.com

ill let people …
ill let people train with my pitty mix, my cattle dog however will only to me if im there, but if im not around he’ll pick up on the next person,
i dont mind others work my dog, it gives them new challenges and its also good for her socialisation
I can’t wait to …
I can’t wait to take my girls to the LVDD dock. Sadly it is all about trasportation right now.. ugh! lol!!!
Maybe but if i new …
Maybe but if i new the trainer was bad I wouldn’t even let him touch my dog…. I know a trainer who doesnt let you correct your own dog your way instead they do it in ANY way the want to…. one day a Border Collie barked 2 times and the trainer came up and kicked the crate HARD! Last time I went there!
Under six months …
Under six months old (minimum) I would say no unless it’s one of the rare trainers I have a high regard for, professional or not. I want my puppies raised my way because I know it produces well balanced dogs. After that, yes, if I have confidence in their abilities, for example, son, daughter, friend etc that I trust not to do stupid things. I think it is beneficial to the dog to have other people work them, but not just anyone.
@tuckerthegsp He …
@tuckerthegsp He will listen to me if I have him, and that is part of distraction program. Obviously dogs are bought and sold to others, and the new owners have to know how to follow through. This is also why dogs usually listen to trainers better than owners. A baby sitter is not going to be able to spoil your kids if you maintain your rules. Grandma may give him cookies all day.

I don’t mind other people working with my dogs, as long as they don’t teach any bad habits that I would have to untrain. But especially puppies, I think it’s super important that a lot of different people work with a puppy.
I don’t mind other …
I don’t mind other people working my dog. But when he’s learning something new, I don’t like other people training that new command. I want him to learn it from me (mostly so I know he’s being taught consistently). That brings up a question though fred… if Nash listens to other people, and you have him on a sit, how does he know not to leave if someone else tells him to “come”
I sure do. I think …
I sure do. I think it’s important for the dog to understand commands and gestures and intents of different people than their owners only.
Each person has a tendency to do things a certain way, and always that way.
I think it’s especially important to let kids do some of the training – under surveillance – (but if it’s the dog training the kids or the opposite I don’t know
